Villa L renovierung
Site: Hamburg
Project Status: Built
Main Use: Wohnen
Total Floor Area: 1250 m²

After several years of vacancy the main work for this generous art nouveau villa was to recreate the original atmosphere. Therefore surfaces of the interior were gently worked over or renewed.

The characteristics of the typical 9-square-grid villa plan were strengthened by this careful renovation. On the one hand the reduced colour palette enhences the spatial continuity of the rooms linked to each other. At the same time the renewing of the original materials emphasizes the individual characteristics of each room which is expressed in different shapes of ceiling, wall materials and wood parquet floor patterns.

While the exterior facades were not to be touched, the entrance stair and terrace were upgraded with a contemporary floor tiling that modestly merges with the existing and creates the transition between outside and inside, between ample garden and representative ground floor.
