Set next to the castle of Eutin and on the banks of the Great Eutin Lake, the historical riding hall profits significantly from its extraordinary surroundings. The remodeling and extension of this event location aimed to unlock the full experience of this special site. Therefore the small event hall was set within a compact building and extends the existing building towards the north, opening up towards the castle, the lake and the view upon the city. While the big event hall remains in its location in the historical riding hall, another small event hall is arranged on the upper floor of the existing building.

The new building is mainly characterized by the structure of its roof. The curved beams create a girder grid with its lowest point located above the doorway to the existing building. The height of the girder grid diminishes towards the sides. Thus the space opens up towards the spectacular views of the surroundings. The outer edge of the roof is very slender, exposing only a minimal profile in the elevation. The girder grid consists of hybrid primary beams of steal and glue laminated timber and secondary beams of glue laminated timber. It is supported by four rigid, cross-shaped steel columns. The warm colour of the wood dominates the interior.

All three event halls feature their own exterior space: the big hall extends towards the courtyard where apple trees create a backdrop that changes with the seasons and is clearly visible from within the hall. Next to the small event space and lounge in the extension building a terrace provides views of the lake. The roof of the extension building is used as a roof terrace for the small event hall on the upper floor. Here, visitors can enjoy the views beyond the lake, of the castle and the city.
